Goddard is Jimmy’s robot dog. He gets Jimmy out of a lot of scrapes and helps him save the day frequently.

Goddard is named after Dr. Robert Goddard, the scientist who invented and developed the controlled liquid-fueled rocket. Dr. Goddard launched the first liquid-fueled rocket on March 16, 1926. Dr. Goddard was often ridiculed for his theories during his lifetime, but his groundbreaking research opened the way for the modern rocket, missile technology and the space program.

Like Dr. Goddard, Jimmy is often misunderstood and ridiculed for his ideas. This is a history reference to real science, something often done in this TV series, as well as pop culture references.

Goddard doesn’t speak often, but when he does his voice is played by Frank Welker and sometimes by others. Goddard can do 11,000,004 things, except clean up after himself. He produces nuts and bolts as solid waste. Hugh cleans up these parts from the back yard as a hobby.
